colorbar on LEFT side of figure ?

Hi,

I have been unable to place a colorbar on the LEFT side of a figure.
For example, in the Gaussian
noise with vertical colorbar demo, how can the colorbar be
positioned on the left side of the figure.

Create your own axes instance for the colorbar (as in http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/examples/pylab_examples/multi_image.html).
