Matplotlib for image processing

I am trying to teach myself matplotlib for my latest image processing project as a replacement for Matlab. I am also using Jupyter. Any pointers to tutorials and/or documents on the topic would be very helpful indeed

Have you investigated scikit-image? (http://scikit-image.org/) The
documentation includes many examples.
