[Matplotlib-devel] Need guidance about proposal

Hello Mentors,
I am Om Bhojane, I am new in this technical writing field. I am genuinely interested to learn and contribute to the proposal.

Here’s what I did last week (GsOD Oriented tasks):

  1. I read flutter documentation to understand the process.
  2. I read technical articles in various websites
  3. GDSC Pen and Paper Competition : I participated in these technical article writing competition, and I won in these competition. I am sharing my pen and paper in attachments.

Next Steps I am going to do to improve my skills :

  1. Writing Technical articles and blog daily on dev.to
    my profile : https://dev.to/ombhojane
  2. Go through Matplotlib’s documentation in brief.

Please suggest to me how to do proposals in the right way, is my direction correct or not.

Thanking You,
Om

Hi Om,

While your enthusiasm is appreciated, GSOD is geared towards experienced technical writers. For a project of this sort, I highly recommend that you engage more directly with the proposed work, which is described at https://github.com/matplotlib/matplotlib/wiki/Google-Season-of-Docs-2023:-Proposal

For example, the training work you are doing seems geared towards writing content for end users, while the writing deliverables for this project are closer to guidelines for maintainers on how to implement the findings of the cataloging and auditing that is the bulk of the work for this project. If you would like to apply for this project, I would highly recommend submitting a statement of interest that describes your experience with organizing information, refactoring existing teaching/training material, and writing internal process documentation.

Thanks,

Hannah

Also gsod inquiries should be sent to matplotlib-gsod@googlegroups.com
