latex problem

Hi all,

I'm running matplotlib on Mac OS X and I've set text.usetex to True in
matplotlibrc, but if I try to run the tex_demo I get the error shown
below. If I'm right it's a problem with dvipng:

dvipng -version
This is dvipng 1.6 Copyright 2002-2005 Jan-Ake Larsson
dvipng 1.6
kpathsea version 3.5.5

Any idea?

Thanks,
Michele

Yes, because dvipng - version works fine.

what about "dvipng --version", does that fail?
