installing matplotlib on mandriva

Hi,

I'd like to know if someone already installed matplotlib on mandriva 2005? Is
there any src.rpm? pygtk 2.0 needs to be installed?

I'm trying to install using checkinstall to keep a only with-rpm-installed
distribution.

build seems to work
then using checkinstall python setup.py install, it fails :

========================= Installation results ===========================
installing data to lib/python2.4/site-packages/matplotlib/mpl-data
running install
running build
running build_py
running build_ext
running install_lib
copying build/lib.linux-i686-2.4/pylab.py -> /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages
error: /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pylab.py: No such file or directory

**** Installation failed. Aborting package creation.

I routinely build and then install the CVS version into /usr/local. I’m not aware of the most recent version being available, but there is an RPM for python-matplotlib-0.83.2-1mdk in the contrib directory, if you add it to your package manager. Since I don’t use it, I don’t know if it requires pygtk or not.
