help installing matplotlib

I have an intel mac running os 10.4.11. I use python 2.6

I am trying to install matplotlib and I can’t figure it out. Can anyone help me?

It's going to be a challenge -- numpy only recently supports 2.6 -- I"d go back to 2.5 if you can.

When I install matplotlib it seems to work, but then there is a bug about pylab. There is a font that doesn't work.

Can anybody out there help me?

Can you provide more information, such as any messages emitted when you import pylab?
