compiling 0.87.2 on macosx

===== Original message from Charlie Moad | 16 Mar 2006:

This looks like the same error you get if you try to link against
Apple's bundled freetype in /usr/X11R6/lib. Also, the "libfreetype.6"
makes me think this library is not freetype2.

i've installed freetype2 in /usr/local/ :

buri:~/Desktop vidar$ ls /usr/local/lib/libfreetype.*
/usr/local/lib/libfreetype.6.3.8.dylib /usr/local/lib/libfreetype.dylib
/usr/local/lib/libfreetype.6.dylib /usr/local/lib/libfreetype.la
/usr/local/lib/libfreetype.a

I would check to make sure you installed freetype right.. You may also consider installing freetype2 from the i-Installer (usually used for TeX installs, but has tones of other goodies). I have had good luck with this binary installation, where I have had trouble (admittedly some time ago) with homemade freetype installs from source.
